Dear America: This Is Community is a human-centered documentary that follows Matt Fogarty’s Pedal for Progress journey up the California coast—a mission to raise awareness for the unhoused and ignite real change at a community level. Along the way, we step into the heart of California’s crisis, meeting the people and organizations who are actively doing the work: feeding, housing, supporting, and advocating for the individuals our society often overlooks. Through intimate interviews, raw moments on the road, and the quiet humanity shared between strangers, the film becomes both a call to action and a reminder of the power we each hold to impact our own communities. At its core, Dear America: This Is Community is a love letter to the people who show up—and an invitation for the rest of us to do the same.
